Guided by Grace, (GBG) believes that mentoring is the key to helping young people succeed in school, work, and life.  It helps to give young people the confidence, resources and support that are needed to achieve their greatest potential. The curriculum is designed to help young girls gain a sense of competency and empowerment through education, support and building a connection with others.  The group curriculum is designed to help promote self-esteem and self-confidence.  It also educates individuals on healthy coping mechanisms when dealing with stress and pressures of adolescence.

At the beginning of each session, there is a “bead necklace exercise” which helps girls recognize and share their own unique strengths, characteristics, feelings, and experiences. After this introductory exercise, there is a main activity and topic of the week. This may include information sheets, worksheets, role-playing, or other exercises. Then there is discussion and group process. The last ten minutes are reserved for journal writing, which will always signal the end of that session. This is the basic format of a session which may vary slightly depending on the topic and the needs of group members.
